Our March Networking was held at Oz Ten Pin Bowling at Chirnside Park where a group of regular Networking attendees gathered for bowling. There was much laughter and just a little competition between the participants. Whilst significantly outnumbered by our male attendees Edwina and Linda gave creditable performances.

This month’s event had many new people in attendance – (see photo) and it was great to hear the buzz in the room from all who came. Our members Matchworks made a presentation about the services they provide to encourage businesses to engage with young people who have slight difficulty in obtaining work.
We also heard from another attendee regarding the Rice Bowl Sunday and the concept was explained. Some of us in attendance have previously attended these days and enjoyed our bowl of rice with a glass of water – caviar to those in disadvantaged locations.

“Belonging is GOOD business!”
Our 2016 Christmas Breakfast was another great day – Paul Wheelton, OAM (an now AM) addressed the audience and related his experiences in making his business so successful that he was able to devote a great proportion of his time to philanthropic pursuits.
Paul outlined how the main ‘tool’ he utilised was his ‘team’. Expenditure on improving the skill sets of those in his organisation returned in multiple ways to the business and he couldn’t stress enough how HIS business was all about the people both internally and externally.
CCCI President, Edwina Ricci, gave a brief summation of the work that had been undertaken by the Chamber during 2016 and thanked our numerous supporters for their involvement during the year. She also summarised the current position with the project ‘Maroondah, the City of Wellbeing” and the significant progress made to date.
50% of ticket sales this year were provided to Maroondah Home Assist so that those less fortunate than ourselves could have a slightly better Christmas this year.
2016’s Breakfast was another example of how Croydon Chamber is working tirelessly to improve the culture of the organisations in our local area.
We are a member based organisation and by joining you will assist us to continue in our work. Joining is as simple as clicking here and completing the online application form and then come along to our events.
